Slope Stabilization/Deep Excavation
Slope Stabilization
There has been a significant increase in the infrastructure development in hilly areas such as
construction of hydro power projects, highways and construction. The increased economic activity has
resulted in an increase in landslides in the hilly areas resulting in loss of infrastructure and lives. This has
led to widespread concern on risks associated with disturbance of hills and mountain slopes. Therefore,
Slope protection & stabilization has become an essential activity in any infrastructure project that has
risks of landslides & slope failures due to construction or weather disturbances.
Slope Stabilization is a process that involves first spraying of wet cement concrete (100 mm thick) on the
slope to be stabilized. This process is called shotcrete. Post this a wire mesh fabric is applied on the first
layer with small nails and second layer shotcrete (100 mm) is applied. Further the soil is nailed by drilling
the slope and inserting grout tubes and then sealing them with anchor nails.
Through our extensive technical & operational experiences we have gained wide respect as a quality job
specialist engineering company providing slope stabilization & protection.
Deep Excavation
Deep excavation technology is a very popular internationally as it enables real estate developers to
effectively utilize the land area by building multi-level basement parking. In India, deep excavation
technology is a growing area used in construction of underground tunnels, metro stations, under passes
& crossings and other infrastructure development.
However very few players in India use this technology in real estate developments (such as construction
of high rise apartments, office complexes and shopping malls) due to lack of a specialist contractor.
Currently, relying on conventional methods of construction, they are only able to build single/double
basement car parking in their projects. This decreases the total value of the project due to lack of
effective land utilization and high cost of construction (time and manpower) associated with the
conventional methods. With increasing globalization, the awareness of this technology is increasing
among the Indian real estate developers.
